Help! son wont settle in proper bed?

Can anyone give me some ideas on how to get a toddler in to a proper bed- my son is 2.5 years old and still in a cot! he doesnt cry when i try him in the proper bed he just follows me out the room- ive put his favourite teletubbies quilt cover on which he loves but he just wont stop in there! any1 with ideas? plz?
