Mirena coil aborted before inserted!!!!?

I went to get the mirena coil in today but the nurse stopped as i was in too much pain even when the nurse so much as touched my cervix,,,,she said it was because most women who havent had children find it extemely uncomfortable to have their cervix stretched,,,but i ped out because it was that painfull and the doc reccommended i try some other form of contraception which is fine but ever since this afternoon ive been bleeding and im a bit worried. i know its probably because the doc tried to give me a general anisthetic but i just want a second opinion...is this normal??
